The Two Gifts
This Christmas I received two very special
gifts.
One was the most lovely little gift from a very
dear friend and his family that I have referred to often in numerous little
stories on this website. The other one was a tiny 2-piece bone china heart box
from a friend.
I have found over and over that God meets us
just where we are. He knows the pain in our heart, and He has a way of letting
us know that He shares in our grief.
The first gift was this beautiful little
praying angel trinket box (picture shown is before it was broken) with hardly
any space to place anything. On the side of the box is written the words:
The Worry Angel -
Inside this little angel box place your worries or your cares.
Know that God surrounds you and that He is always there.
This box may seem too little to handle all your strife
But every problem’s small when God is in your life.
When I opened it to take it out, the tip of the
angel’s wing was broken as well as the angel being totally broken from the waist
down in the shipping. My first thought was to replace it but then after awhile I
put the two pieces together and put it back in the box.
When I turned back to look at it again, the
little angel was bent over so far she looked as if she was grieving as she
prayed. Once more I knew that God was there sharing in my grief in a situation
at least for now, that I had no control over.
When I opened the second gift I had no idea
what I could do with the little tiny heart shaped box. But sitting in my little
sacred space that I have upstairs over a second floor dormer, I realized I was
to was to write down that one word, I was feeling in my heart Grief and to place
it in that little heart box. It was to represent my handing the pain in my heart
over to God to heal and work out.
Shortly thereafter I felt a tremendous peace
and knew I could not let that be the focus of my life. I had to continue to go
on doing whatever it was God led me to do, whether that was being there for
someone else, or just reading His Word….I will not leave you comfortless I will
come to you. John 14:18 KJV And He did…and He will for you, just ask Him into
your heart.
