The Broken Angel.
Another very important object is an angel that my dear friend
Carlene presented me with. She
made this angel for me, to go in the chapel.
There is a very beautiful touching story that goes along with that
angel.
The story is appropriately entitled The Broken Angel
and described elsewhere in this site, along with other
true stories of Experiencing God’s Grace.
The short version of The Broken Angel is that Carlene, while trying
to open the door to my house, dropped the angel on the concrete floor of
my porch.
She wrote a note, because I wasn’t at home, telling me what
happened along with the words to a song, Pick Up The Broken Pieces and
Take Them to The Lord.
I
read that story at her memorial service, it only seemed fitting as my
tribute to her memory and our friendship.
Reading it was one of the most difficult things I ever had to do.
I still miss her to this day.
I believed then as I do now, that God works out everything
for His greater good, and in so doing, we are all included.
While my depression lasted perhaps longer by not taking medication,
I truly believe that my spiritual life grew far deeper and stronger as the
result of my willingness to experience the pain of change.
It takes as long as it takes for each person.
I share these very personal stories of God
working in my life in the hope that I may encourage and inspire others who
might consider creating or building their own sacred space, whether it is
in the form of a chapel or an altar. |
Just a space set-aside some place, where you and He can spend quiet
time together. A place to
meet the Master daily at an appointed time.
My chapel is the most valued possession I own, but after all, I
don’t really own it, do I?
