This is the story of the Pathway Chapel.  Click on the link to the left to continue to the next page of this journey.

There was a scripture that continued to make itself present in my life at every  turn:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.   Proverbs 3:5-6

My chapel began out of a self-imposed depression.  During which time, I took no medication.  Why you ask self-imposed?  Because God had a plan for me, His plan,  but I was unwilling and, I thought, unable to follow it.

He also had a plan to bring me out of depression, and that plan became the stepping-stones to creating The Pathway Chapel.  But first, I had to do a lot of stumbling around..  A lot of personal changes had to be made in the years prior to finding the light once more.

Chapel Outside at NightAt first my purpose for doing this website was to share with others, who may have an interest in creating their own chapel, how easy and inexpensive it was.  However, my purpose seemed to change as I began putting my thoughts to paper.  My purpose became His purpose.

I now believe that what you see, is what He wants me to convey  to you.

Because a large part of our population will go through depression at some time in their life,  it is my hope to serve as an encouragement to people that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

That light as I know it is God.  But even more importantly I hope you can catch a glimpse of the wonderful opportunity for personal and spiritual growth that can be gleamed from the dark times of our lives.  In sharing my little stories with you, perhaps I can give you the courage to do whatever it is He may be leading you to do.

Chapel from the Side in the Daytime

The harder one tries to know God through intellect, the more elusive our God experiences become.  For me, the divine experiences occur when I am in an open, relaxed and receptive state.

That seems the time when the inner connection takes place.  It is also in His time, not mine.  I don’t  dictate or set up the experiences - He does, when He thinks everything and everyone is in place and the time is perfect.

It is only when we decide to let God express His power through us that things begin to change.  For me, God’s plan is worked out through a series of what I refer to as almost a mystery, with one clue leading to another.

Let me explain what I mean.  He creates something that seems to spark my interest. It may be in something I read in a devotional, a scripture in the Bible, or a book.  I may be attracted to a particular material object, and not know why.  It may be in something I heard a person say in passing conversation, or more often than not, it’s an intuition, or a fleeting thought.

I don’t always know what's taking place, but I do know, I have learned to trust whatever it is, and to move forward with it.  The reasons or the whole picture may not present themselves until some time later, or in some cases not at all.  But for the most part, I do gain the spiritual understanding, that I believe He intends for me.

For example, I identify strongly with the darkness of the cocoon.  What is in the cocoon emerges into a beautiful butterfly.   Many people relate to that concept, so to me, it only seemed natural I would end up at a butterfly solarium.

Once there, I also discovered a chapel on the site, created by the husband for his wife.  That got my wheels turning.  From then on it seemed like I was stumbling onto little chapels that seemed to be popping up everywhere.  Or should I say, I was open to finding them?  I actually would seek them out and make every attempt to go and visit them.

At the time I thought I was stumbling, but I learned to realize that God was creating the desires in my heart and the path I was on.   The seeds were planted.  I thought what a wonderful idea for a chapel, a place for my own spiritual healing, a place I could go and be alone with God.
